SHOPPING malls in Penang have been urged to be responsible in the battle against software piracy.
The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism’s state deputy chief enforcement officer Johary Yacob said they were disappointed to note that personal computers were being sold with pirated software at stores in various malls.
He said this following a raid at a computer store in Bayan Lepas.
An enforcement team seized five branded notebooks and five copies of suspected pirated software with a value of around RM16,000.
“The Federal Government has always promoted the sale, purchase and use of original and licensed software.
