Microsoft Nigeria has decried increase in the sales and patronage of counterfeit software in the country, saying that about 82 per cent of software products were through illegal means on a regular basis.
This was disclosed by the Anti- Piracy Manager, Microsoft Nigeria, Mr. Seye Oloruntoba, on the side line of the recent raid by the Nigerian Police of the premises of IPS Plus Solution Limited, a computer reseller at Veterans Plaza, located in Yaba found to be producing and selling pirated software products.
The raid which took place on recently and with the case now handed to the Nigerian Copyright Commission for further investigation followed a consumer tip-off, an undercover test purchase and a subsequent petition to the local law enforcement authorities by Microsoft Corporation.
